According to the Associated Press, 1B Jeimer Candelario was pulled off the bag by a throw and had to tag Sandy Leon in the third inning. Candelario appeared shaken up after the play but remained in the game.

The Tigers have just outright struggled this season to deal with batters. They have an ERA of 5.71, which is 29th in the MLB. Their other pitching stats aren't great either. From a batting standpoint, they are only marginally better, with a batting average of .242, 16th in the league.

Twins continue to make rapid progress
Season form
The Twins, on the other hand, continue to make solid progress towards the postseason. They have now won two games on the bounce as they beat the Chicago Cubs 4-0 in their previous game. They are now 33-22 for the season.

"We had good competitive at-bats all night," Twins manager Rocco Baldelli said. "(Darvish is) good at what he does, but I don't think we made it easy on him tonight. He made mistakes. We hit some balls well and really forced him to work because if you don't force him to work, he'll throw into the eighth inning without much problem or hesitation."
Stats for the season
The Twins have been terrific on the mound this season. In fact, they are one of the best teams there. They have an earned run average of 3.51, third in the MLB. They also have a WHIP of 1.19, forth in the league.
