They still had a chance to win in the last seconds, but rookie running back D'Andre Swift, who was wide open in the end zone, dropped a perfect pass from Matthew Stafford. They will try to bounce back from the loss with a win over the Packers on Sunday.
Detroit did not look very good offensively in its season opener, scoring 23 points in the loss. They passed for 288 yards and rushed for 138.
Stafford completed 24 of 42 passes for 297 yards, one touchdown, and one interception. In his first game with the team, veteran back Adrian Peterson rushed for 93 yards on 14 carries, while Danny Amendola had five catches for 81 yards.
Defensively, the Lions looked good for three quarters, then fell apart and gave up 21 points in the final quarter. With the Packers scoring 43 points in their first game, the Lions will have to play better than they did if they want to get the win.
On the injury front, Lions star receiver Kenny Golladay will miss the game due to a hamstring injury. The are also banged up in the secondary with cornerback Desmond Trufant (hamstring) out.

Packers Going For Third Consecutive Win Over Lions
The Packers have dominated their series with the Lions in recent years and have won the last two games between the two teams. They will be going for their third consecutive win over the Lions and their second win in a row when they play on Sunday.
Green Bay looked great offensively in their last game, finishing with 43 points. They passed for 364 yards and rushed for 158 yards in the win.
Aaron Rodgers completed 32 of 44 passes for 364 yards and four touchdowns. Aaron Jones rushed for 66 yards and one touchdown, while Davante Adams had 14 catches for 156 yards and two touchdowns. They did lose starting guard Lane Taylor to a knee injury and he's out for the season.
