The Giants have cooled down after a seven-game win streak and look to get back in the win column facing a reeling Diamondbacks team that has lost eight games in a row.

The Giants have lost two games in a row and not only that but were shut out in each. The losses were costly ones falling to the Dodgers, who are in first place in the NL West nine games ahead of San Francisco. The Giants had averaged 7.4 runs per game in their seven-game win streak before putting up two goose eggs in losing their last two games.

The MLB postponed seven MLB games on Thursday, including the Diamondbacks game with the Colorado Rockies, because of the social unrest because of the Jacob Blake shooting by the Wisconsin police.

Arizona is in the basement of the NL West 10.5 games back of the Dodgers. They did score seven runs in their last game but in the first six of their current skid, they only totaled 12 runs. The pitching has been the main issue for the team on the season only ranking 26th in the Majors in runs scored.

Not the best Home Double Bill

The Giants are coming off being swept in a doubleheader where they failed to score in each game and in both only totaled six hits. The team is now back to three games under .500, as with winning seven games got close to that mark before the doubleheader sweep. They only gave up two runs on three hits in the second game of the double bill in a 2-0 loss to L.A. The team’s strength has been their lineup, which ranks tied for fifth in the Majors in runs scored but that lineup has been a no-show in their last two games. Mike Yastrzemski and Wilmer Flores have combined for 41 RBI this season, Flores leads the team with seven HR, and Donovan Solano leads the club batting .340.

Tyler Anderson (1-1 3.45 ERA) goes for the Giants in this series opener. After giving up nine runs in two starts lasting 10 innings he threw a gem in his last start pitching a complete game and only allowing one run on three hits in a 5-1 win over the Diamondbacks. The Giants have won two of his last three starts and he hopes to dominate Arizona as he did in his last start.

Not Quite Enough

In the Diamondbacks had their Thursday game postponed and in their previous one scored four runs in the ninth inning, but it was not enough in an 8-7 loss to the Rockies. Christian Walker had four RBI in the game and has six hits in his last three games.

Arizona ranks tied for 17th in the bigs in runs scored and have four players with at least 16 RBI led by David Peralta (22), who has four hits and two RBI in his last two games. In the series before their last one, the D-Backs were swept in a three-game set at San Francisco only totaling four runs.

Zac Gallen (0-0 2.25 ERA) gets the call for the Diamondbacks and he faced the Giants in his last outing and was solid online giving up one run in six innings but got little help in the 5-1 loss where he opposed Anderson. Gallen is looking for his first win of the season and he has not given up more than two runs in any of his six starts. He did walk four batters in his last start and after winning his first three outings Arizona has lost two of his last three starts.
