The Baltimore Orioles are (24-35) on the year and will battle the playoff-bound Toronto Blue Jays (32-37) in the final game of the regular season for both teams.

Baltimore peppered nine hits off of Toronto on Saturday but only tallied two runs while also logging two errors. Toronto used two home runs by Cavan Biggio and Randal Grichuk to go up up 4-0 in the 7th to eventually win 5-2.

The Orioles are 11-15 on the road this year while the Blue Jays sport a 17-8 home record. Baltimore will start left-hander Keegan Akin (1-2, 3.57 ERA) against right-hander Tanner Roark (2-3, 7.01 ERA)

Orioles Only 2 Wins In Last 10 Games

The Baltimore Oriole season is one game away from coming to an end but John Means gave all of Baltimore something to think about for the 2021 season on Saturday evening. Until Cavan Biggio hit a solo homer in the sixth inning, Means had a no-hitter going at Sahlen Field in Buffalo, New York.

Means ends the season with a 1.52 ERA in his last four starts not allowing more than an earned run across those games. Ending the season on a good note was exactly what Means and the Orioles needed.

Left-hander Keegan Akin gets the nod for the Orioles and has a 1.37 WHIP, but was roughed up in his last outing going only four innings giving up eight hits and four runs (two earned). Akin went 4.1 innings against Toronto on 8/31 giving up three hits and no earned runs.

Toronto Trying To Avoid 8th Playoff Seed

The Toronto Blue Jays need a win in the last game against of the season and a Miami victory over the Yankees of New York in order to move up to second place in the AL East and the fifth seed in the AL playoffs. If the Blue Jays lose on Sunday they will drop to eighth and will face the #1 seed Tampa Bay Rays.

The Blue Jays have won six out of their last seven games after dropping six in a row prior to that. They have scored 33 runs in their last four games, good for 8.25 runs per game over that stretch. Toronto is hitting .257 on the season with 87 home runs to go with.442 slugging percentage.

Right-hander Tanner Roark gets the start for the final game of the season for Toronto. This will be his 11th start of the year and has faced the Orioles twice this year going five innings in each game resulting in a Toronto win. In ten innings against Baltimore, he has surrendered 17 hits and five earned runs.
